The term "blessed"
really appeals to me when not used a religious sense.* Saying “I am blessed” communicates a deeper level of thankfulness and humility than the phrase “I am lucky.” Of course, it is generally considered to have a religious connotation—but I’m going to steal it from the theists and use it for my own purposes.

disagree. there’s beauty in sadness that comes as a result of loving or having loved someone/something, but true despair is just hideous. plus, happiness is immeasurably beautiful.
