Dear World:
The fact that oppressed/marginalized people aren’t always saints by the standards you apply to them doesn’t make the oppression/marginalization acceptable.

Mom: (Looking at my aunt's shirt, which has a big snowflake on it) That looks cute on you. You know, if I saw that in a store, I would never think to try it on.
Well-Endowed Aunt: That's because you need boobs that say (pushes her chest forward) SNOWWWWFLAKE!

For Alana, who asked about design blogs. I have only been reading them for a little while, but so far this one is my favorite. You’ll mostly find ideas for small stuff here (storage solutions, magnets, etc). It’s a little cutesy but I have yet to find one that’s not - it’s how crafters roll, I guess. For bigger stuff, definitely try Design Sponge.

No one in this house eats any fucking fruits or vegetables.
Your family too?! I can’t stand it. My parents eat takeout approx. 75% of the time.
Anonymous asked: I don't have a tumblr so I can't comment and this isn't a question but you should watch season 1 of Veronica Mars, if you haven't previously. Even if you have, you should probably watch it again. Season 2 was good, but steer clear of 3.

My first thought listening to this was—they get to talk about their work in interviews all of the time, and that’s nothing special because that’s what famous people do. But you know, when normal people are silly in love all they want to do is talk about one another and their relationship but no one actually wants to hear them gush. When famous people date, they get to talk about...

I couldn’t pick just one song, so check out Please Concrete and For Prayer. Rarely does a band satisfy both my love of folk-inspired music AND my love of straight-up rock.
ETA: Darcy, they are from Baltimore! Maybe you already know that.
Seasonal Playlists
Over the summer, I made a playlist of the songs that were important to me that season, old or new. I’ve decided to do that every season and keep a hard copy of the playlist on CD, so that I have them to look back on.
Summer playlist (in purposeful order):
“Dog Days Are Over,” Florence + the Machine (duh)
“Tiger,” Maximum Balloon (feat. Aku)

Recommendations needed
You guys, I want to fill the void my past TV addictions left in my heart. But not actual TV—I mean something I can watch instantly on Netflix. Nothing can really measure up to Arrested Development, Firefly, or the L Word (yeah, it’s ridiculous sometimes, but it’s ABSORBING). So if you know of some other magic show that will knock my socks off, tell me now. I need something to...
